Golden Glory: The Prestigious Trophy of UAAP Men's Basketball

UAAP Season 80 Trophy

In the 80th Season of UAAP Men's Basketball Tournament, the Ateneo Blue Eagles emerged as champions after a grueling three-game series against the De La Salle Green Archers. In a modest ceremony held at Ateneo de Manila University, Eduardo Cojuanco Jr. presented the Golden Trophy, which was skillfully crafted by the goldsmiths of Suarez and Sons Inc.

The Golden Trophy is an awe-inspiring masterpiece made of 14-karat solid gold, featuring a ball, body, and base, all crafted with this precious metal. Even the plaques and seals representing each school were made of gold, further enhancing the trophy's magnificence. The shield of every UAAP member was also incorporated into the trophy, symbolizing the true spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie between schools.

Mr. Cojuangco pledged to donate trophies to the next six to eight UAAP Men's Basketball champions, further adding to the prestige and value of the coveted Golden Trophy. However, a new trophy will be awarded to the winner of three consecutive seasons - a perpetual trophy - to be unveiled if a back-to-back champion emerges from the heated battle for the UAAP basketball championships.
